Grey Areas

I just saw 11:11 on the clock, my favourite time of day. It's just so tidy. I always take noticing it to be a good sign for the day ahead. ANYWAY, put simply, here I am in grey. It's not my full collection of grey garments (I even own grey nail varnish) but my favourite ones. It was the new undies that inspired me. Those are my beautiful, wonderful Supra Vaiders in my hand by the way. I'd only love my Supra TK Societies more, if I had a pair...

Cheshire Street

There aren't many projects I've enjoyed more than this one.
'Follow this route round the East End of London and produce five illustrations based on your exploration and findings.'
OK, I will. In fact I'll produce five illustrations that fit together to make one big one. Commonly known as the Brick Lane project I actually used, as the name suggests, Cheshire Street as the back drop for my drawing thanks to stickers, promo flyers and a large quantity of disposeable cameras (digital's not really my bag, I like to create collages the old-skool way, by hand). I don't think I'd spent such a concentrated amount of time in one place since school.

DRG

A promo image for Dorset's as yet imaginary roller derby league, the Dorset Rollergirls. Roller derby may have broken my ankle and put a metal plate and five screws in it but it was so worth it! Check out the London Rollergirls at http://www.londonrollergirls.com/ to see how it should be done. Weep, I miss them!

Red and Silver Ranchu

Man, I love fish and as a proud antidote to all the 'freshwater fish are lame' people out there I can safely say that goldfish rule, especially these little bum wigglers. Ranchus put the biggest smile on my face. I'm so easily pleased!

Dahab Gold

There may have been nothing in Dahab's shops worth buying but there was a lot of treasure to be found everywhere else. The Oreo biscuit look-a-like is a Boreo by the way, a far superior Egyptian version of the much loved american 'cookie'. I figured the 'B' stands for bigger and better. I should really do a second one of these as I gathered up so much more stuff that deserves to be drawn...

Ruben's Girls

I drew these saucy numbers while I was in Dahab, Egypt for Ruben for his birthday as there wasn't anything worth buying over there that might even come close to qualifying as a half decent birthday present. 'Rubix' is his alias. He has them up on his wall and fancies the one in the white knickers the most apparantly! I particularly like R-Girl's socks and shoes.

The Louse

I think the louse is my favourite of the drawings I submitted to Macmillan Publisher's Ltd. for the Waterstone's 'Picture This' competition. He's simple but looks determined, like a silent, unaware but focused armoured vehicle. He's funny.

The Bat

As far as I could see from the zillions of Waterstone's 'Picture This' entries I scoured through on flickr I was the ONLY person who didn't draw their bat flying, which makes me all the more glad I didn't. It wouldn't be flying around in the daytime anyway surely?

The Frog

I love this guy. There are a multitude of animals mentioned in 'Freddie and the Fairy', of which each competiton entrant had to draw at least two. I chose the frog, the bat and the louse.

Bessie-Belle

Bessie-Belle, the fairy in 'Freddie and the Fairy' by Julia Donaldson, drawn as part of my entry for the Waterstone's 'Picture This' competition. Her leggings make me smile.

Freddie and the Fairy

Macmillan Publishers Ltd. ran a competition earlier this year in conjunction with Waterstone's to find an illustrator for 'Freddie and the Fairy', the new children's book by Julia Donaldson, author of 'The Gruffalo'. Judging by the work of the six finalists the panel were looking for something a little more delicate than classic Charlie. C'est la vie. Rod Waters' work is my favourite, it's his tree that does it for me. I do think his fairy queen looks like she's flown straight from a Red Bull advert though, if I'm allowed to say that?! Anyway, this is my Freddie.

Secret Weapons

A tiny selection of my pens, just because I love 'em... obviously... 'Secret Weapons' - 2009

Even When My Mind's Gone Numb

Wow, my first ever post. I'm a little nervous but here she is.
